These HBCU Alums Are Super Bowl Champs!

These HBCU Alums Are Super Bowl Champs!

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Joshua Williams, safety Bryan Cook, and Assistant DL Coach, Terry Bradden Jr., are giving all the HBCU excellence as they were crowned Super Bowl champs in their 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night.

Super Bowl 58 proved the Kansas City Chiefs are still in their winning era. And star players like Williams, Cook, and Bradden prove NFL victories can come from HBCU excellence, too.

The Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years in a 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in only the second overtime game in Super Bowl history.

“2 in a row. What’s valentine’s? I’m married to da game!” KCC cornerback Joshua Williams captions as he poses with the trophy in the locker room.

Bryan Cook, who has been on injury reserve since late December also shared his excitement in an Instagram story after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl “back to back.”

Assistant Defensive Line Coach, Terry Bradden Jr., was also feeling blessed as he posed with his family after the Chief’s historic win.

A win for the Chiefs is also a win for Fayetteville State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Tuskegee University, and Howard University. The HBCUs where Williams and Cook began their respective collegiate football careers.

In 2022, Williams became the first NFL draftee from Fayetteville State since 1976. As an FSU Bronco, he primarily played nickel cornerback as a freshman. He later moved to outside corner before his sophomore year and wrapped the season with 32 tackles, one tackle for loss, 11 passes defended, and two interceptions.

Cook began his collegiate football career with Howard Bison. He played in over 20 games as cornerback for two seasons with Howard and had 93 tackles, five tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, with 17 passes defended and five interceptions.

Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs!
